Leaf Shovel

October 05, 2008 By: Snapbagger Category: Uncategorized

SnapBagger is the latest innovation in long-handled, non-powered lawn and garden products, and puts a new twist on shovel technology.  The SnapBagger expands the basic shovel to where it can be used for bulk shoveling of leaves and any other general debris.  In addition to lifting bulk debris off the ground quickly, it goes a step further and bags the debris for containment or transport.

According to an article by Column Technologies, Inc., in the late 1700’s Captain John Ames founded the Ames Shovel Company in Easton, Massachussetts.  The company’s primary product was metal bladed shovels which were produced by the dozens and carted to nearby Boston for sale.  Captian Ames quickly realized that a single type of shovel is not the best for every application.  Over the years, the Ames Shovel Company began experimenting with various handle lengths and head shapes for specific applications.  While America expanded rapidly, it could not have done so without the Ames shovel.  The shovel played a very quiet part in the industrialization of America, and is still a staple tool for most homeowners.

I think Captain John Ames would be pleased with the SnapBagger technology which utilizes “square point shovel” technology which is ideal for scraping loose debris (like leaves) off the ground.  The SnapBagger converts a flimsy, structureless plastic bag into an useful and dynamic shovel, which saves the homeowner considerable time and effort.  It is a new twist (patented in 2008) on an old but proven idea!
